Transplants., do I loose DLA.. was created by Steve
My wife has just had a double lung transplant.
She lost her ESA when she got her OAP, although she only gets £53. Per week, she still gets higher rate DLA for severe COPD.
Now that she's had a transplant will she loose the DLA or have it reduced or what will happen.
They say a transplant isn't a cure, and she will be restricted as to what she can do around the home for some months., and on immune suppresents for life, as well as travelling to the transplant centre every week for three months, and then regularly for another 12 months. Do we have to inform them of this change?
Thank you

I don't think you need to inform them at the moment, but once she is stable, you will need to do so, whether her health has improved or not. There will be an expectation by the DWP that the operation will result in an improvement of her condition.

If she was under the age of 65 on 8 April 2013 then notifying the DWP of a change will result in her being invited to claim PIP, if she was 65 or older on this date then she will be re-assessed for DLA.
