PIP: Q13 Going out – with ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndr was created by gyrfalcon
I’m trying to complete my first PIP form. I’m having great difficulty answering two of the questions included in the section: Q13 Going out.
With regards to the effects of my ME/CFS and my newly diagnosed heart condition, which is now causing additional fatigue, I leave the house very little except for escorted hospital visits and GP visits. I’m mainly confined to home – to one room, in fact.
I’m wondering if the various debilitating symptoms of my ME/CFS (joint pain, severe chronic fatigue, muscle weakness, cognitive dysfunction) and the fatigue of my serious heart condition (I’m likely due open heart surgery this year) are relevant to the wording of the first two questions of Q13 Going out:
• Do you need help from another person to plan a route to somewhere you know well? Or do you need another person, guide dog or specialist aid to help you get there?
• Do you need help from another person, guide dog or specialist aid to get to a location that is unfamiliar to you?
Basically, I can’t do any journey unescorted familiar location or not. Not without severely exacerbating my symptoms. Should I emphasize that?
I’m not even sure my question makes sense or is appropriate to post here. If not, my apologies. I’m quickly approaching my deadline for form return (already extended) and I cannot think clearly at all. Thank you.

Infinitum
The Going Out activity looks at the mental, cognitive or sensory issues that would prevent you planning and following a route. Physical issues will not be considered as part of this activity, these are looked at in the Moving Around activity.
