Hi,

This may not be the place to ask but i wonder if you may be able to assist me.

I am on income related ESA support group and receive the high rate of PIP living component. My son of 18 lives with me and attends college, so i still receive child benefit and also receive child tax credits.

My son is very ill with depression to the point he is suicidal. He is on medication and been referred to mental health. This year he has only attended college once as he cannot face going in, it's looking more likely he will lose his place at the college now.

My worry now is if he claims ESA, will my current benefits be effected. I have a mortgage and pay £200 per month myself from my benefits..

Hi
If he leaves college you will lose tax credits and child benefit.
If he gets ESA it shouldn't affect your benefits.
