  			 				Hi K,

My experience was that the DWP gave no impression of having read anything.

However, it was invaluable having the doctor's letter at the Appeal stage because it showed that my condition had not magically vanished. The nonsense the DWP wrote at each stage became irrelevant as the previous and current written evidence by properly qualified health professionals who knew me in the end carried sufficient weight to return me to the Support Group (ESA).

Best wishes for your claim.

Thank you all for your input. My disabling chronic Illness is ME (20 years) & there is little the GP can do to help, so there will not be much recent information in my medical records. My previous GP put me through his own rigorous testing to ascertain the diagnosis & then supported my DLA (indefinate award) & care package with social services.

I just wondered if a quick handwritten note from the new GP would be better than nothing. I imagined if the GP confirms my illness is severe, wouldn't the DWP medic be able to recognise that the difficulties I am reporting on the PIP form tally with someone who has severe ME? Or dosn't it work like that?

Thinking about this - if an expert benefits advisor takes two hours to help someone complete the PIP form how can a busy city GP give that amount of time for all of their disabled patients? The people who have been able to get the detailed PIP medical evidence required from their GP are very lucky.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

It is undoubtedly better than nothing but don't expect too much from it.

The problem with ME/CFS and I am sufferer myself, is that it effects people to different degrees and they each in turn can be effected differently from day to day and hour to hour. If the assessor does make any assumptions it is likely they will depreciate the effects of your condition rather than anything else.

ME/CFS is a condition where you really need to explain your limitations in detail, remembering the use of reliably and for the majority of days.

As I am reading through people's queries & the helpful responses, I'm thinking "that'll be helpful dealing with my PIP claim" & am trying to copy&paste (I'm not techy).

Is there a way to "favourite" it/send it to myself so I can refer to the topic later? Is the only way to "save it to your browser"?

The easiest thing is to bookmark them in your browser, for Edge, Internet Explorer and Chrome there should be a "star" button at the top of the window on the right, I don't know if it is the same for Firefox.

Just view the topic you want to save, click the star and it will offer to bookmark the page, it should allow you to choose the folder to save it into (and create one if you need it).

  			 				Yes,

There is a star to Bookmark the page in Mozilla Firefox Browser as well. just to the right of the "Home" icon !

Another alternative is to hit the Favourite button at the top of any topics that you want quick access to in the future.

You will then see a Gold Star on any such topics.

To access them in future, you will then have to left click your mouse/pad on your blue username, then click on your Favourites Tab.

I always find it easier and quicker to Bookmark/Favourite any useful topics in my Browser !
