hi, i care for my husband who is registered blind but find i cant claim carers allownace because he only has the lower rate DLA. my question is how do i go about putting him into the middle or higher rate DLA so that i can get carers allownce as im the one who looks after him and the household and kids.

please help!

Welcome to Benefits and Work

If you wish to have his DLA Award reviewed to try and attain a Higher Award, you would have to report a Change of Circumstances (C of C) in writing by letter to DLA requesting a review.

However, doing so would result in him be reviewed for PIP rather than DLA and the qualifying criteria for PIP is totally different to that of DLA.
