Unexpected PIP Decision. was created by Lazarus
Hi there

This is my first post for a number of years.

Fast forward to 2013, I made a successful PIP claim and received enhanced rate daily living component and standard rate mobility both of which were due to end in 2019. I was therefore not expecting to hear anything from DWP when an easily recognisable Brown letter arrived.

It was good news once again.

It said "Having considered all the evidence about your conditions and how they affect you as identified in 1) the How your disability affects you form and 2) the information provided by the health professional consultation report. I've decided that you are entitled to PIP daily living component enhanced rate and standard rate for mobility both for an ONGOING PERIOD. It later state's if there is an end date a letter will be sent 14 weeks before your award ends.

I am surprised at the new 'ongoing' status because I had not reported a change in circumstances, and was not informed that my old paperwork was under review. I was not asked to fill in any forms or anything.

I just thought that you all should know that this is happening to some PIP claimants.

Although I am happy with the news I am suspicious in one respect though, because it state's my illness as unknown. My diagnosis was only unknown in my old DLA file but years later my diagnoses was made and stated in my PIP paperwork so, I believe the DWP also looked at my old DLA file to come to their decision.

Hope this sets a trend for others on PIP and I would like to know if this Unexpected news has happened to others?

Kind Regards.

Thank you for posting.

I have to say this is a first, given the gap between this new award and your original one and the fact that I wouldn't have expected you to be re-assessed before 2018, I can't offer an explanation as to what the DWP are up to.

Congratulations :)
