How long from PIP assesment to decision? was created by Boblatina
Sorry if this question has been asked before. I am sure that it has but I couldn't find anything when I searched.

I am in the process of transferring from DLA (indefinite award) to PIP so things have been a bit stressful here.

After some delays (forms not arriving, cancelled appointments etc) I had my assesment in February. This took place at home (I am in South Wales and fall under Capita).

The assesment seemed to go well. My husband was present throughout as I have cognition/memory problems due to MS. After a week, I phoned DWP for a copy of the PA4 and received a copy a week after. It was generally supportive of the things that I had put in my application and supported with medical evidence. There are a couple of things we noticed that aren't completely accurate IMHO but the overall impression was very positive.

HOWEVER, I was told by the DWP when I phoned for the form that my application was with the case worker and I should have the decision in "1-2 weeks". That time has now passed and I still haven't had a decision.

Today, I received a letter saying "we have all the information but we haven't finished your application yet, sorry!" (I paraphrase!)

Are DWP experiencing a backlog (worse than usual) at the moment or does this seem like my report has been marked as failing CQS tests and so I will be facing a repeat assesment?

I know I am being a panic ferret but having been medically retired from my career in October after long involvement with both CAPITA and ATOS (in their occupational health roles for my former employer) I have been on an emotional hair-trigger for the past 12 months.

Hi boblatina and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

At the end of last year PIP claims were being decided very quickly. However, things do seem to have become rather slower since then :( We would usually say that claimants should expect a decision letter 2-4 weeks following the face2face assessment but more members are reporting receipt of the same letter as you. If you have not heard in another couple of weeks it might be worth contacting DWP to ask what is happening (if you wish).

You should Bookmark/Favourite this page in your Internet Browser now.

That way you can return to this topic easily to pose any further queries that you may have by replying to the topic.

Thanks in anticipation of your future co-operation in keeping all your PIP related queries to this topic ! :)

To keep my story up to date, after a very long wait since the dreaded brown envelope landed on the doormat last year, I have finally received my decision.

Enhanced rate for daily living and mobility until February 2020. I cannot say how relieved I am.

Thank you for the help that this fantastic site gives. I could not have done it without you. I am usually pretty good at filling in forms having spent 25 years as a lawyer (although in a very different area of the law to benefits and social care) and I can honestly say that if I had tried to do this without your advice I would have made such a mess of the process.

Thank you, thank you, thank you - you are brilliant and so vital these days.
