Hi Peter

So sorry you're feeling so depressed and worried; it's understandable, given the present unhappy climate and your position with regard to your consultants etc. BUT all is not by any means lost.

I imagine that you will have been in contact with your GP over the past year or two? If you are discharged into the care of your GP, it obviously means that the consultant had tried everything he is able to try without too much success, and he feels that the GP will be able to help you deal with the fall-out from everything that has happened. Hopefully you will have a good relationship with your GP, and if so, you will be able to ask him to provide you with copies of the letters he has had from your consultant outlining the progress of and prognosis for your illness?

You are entitled to ask for such letters - you may have to pay, but you can go through and select the letters which have most bearing on your illness and which describe most clearly your problems. You can't be expected to have up-to-date letters if you have been discharged; being discharged does not by any means mean you are 'cured'!!!

You have access to all the forms you need on the website; read through them and select the descriptors which you feel most nearly describe your problems and show how they relate to you and the way you cope. If you are unsure of which descriptors apply to you, call us back and we will try and help you select those most appropriate to you.

Please don't give up or give in; you are most certainly not alone in feeling lost!! Start tomorrow, do as I suggest and gather together all the evidence you can and fill in the forms as best you can, and as I say, if you get 'stuck' call us back and we will try to help

Good luck x :)

Hi Peter
I'm in the same situation as yourself, the NHS can't do anymore. However, I used the old support letters from my GP, and even a letter from the Consultant who diagnosed me in 1989, showing that there had been no improvement since then and that there was no way of 'adapting' to any of my conditions. This week I was awarded enhanced both for two years.

Hi Peter,

I have merged your query with your previous PIP topic, it helps us enormously if everything relating to the same claim is kept in one place.

Now that your letter has arrived, you have a limited time to initiate the PIP claim. The cut-off date is on the 'invitation' letter. If you are going to start the process by phone you will find it helpful to have the required information to hand. What you will need is explained in our PIP guide.

PIP help for claimants

The initial call will trigger a PIP2 form being sent to you. You will have 1 month from the date on the form to get it back but can request a 2 week extension if neccessary. There is no PDF version of the form and it is vital that you submit the one you were sent as it will be marked with a unique barcode.

As for availability of supporting documents, you have had very good advice in the posts above.

You should Bookmark/Favourite this page in your Internet Browser now.

That way you can return to this topic easily to pose any further queries that you may have by replying to the topic.

See : This Topic also !

Thanks in anticipation of your future co-operation in keeping all your PIP related queries to this topic ! :)

 got another letter today telling me I was entitled to dla until 31 july 2016 and new rates, and on the same day now I find this part disturbing quote@ if you don't start your claim by 11th april 2016 your disability living allowance will be stopped temporarily (in Bold) and then if you don't start your claim for personal independent payment after 4 weeks your dla will then be stopped permanently

I find this worrying you are being forced to claim if not they stop it even if they have just sent a letter to you saying you have it till 31st july 2016 !!

what are they up to? my GP is wanting to look at these forms and help fill them for us any ideas what information we can give to help him?
