  			 				Hi
Please may I ask that if I've been migrated from DLA to PIP will I still be entitled to SDP? I'm also in the support group for ESA Income Related and was on SDP via my DLA which will be ending and soon I'll be on PIP. It's just that DWP have written to me saying my ESA will decrease and the dates tie in with the DLA?PIP transfer, so I'm wondering if I need to phone them to restart me SDP under PIP?
Many thanks in advance, Melissa

Hi M,

To maintain payment of The Severe Disability Premium (SDP) as an : Income Related (IR) ESA Premium top up to your ESA payments, you must achieve a Standard or Enhanced Daily Living (DL) Award of PIP on transfer over from DLA, as well as continuing to fulfil the other qualifying criteria laid out in the FAQ above.

If you do gain a Standard or Enhanced Daily Living Award of PIP. you may have to fill in an : IS10 Form

So the letter from ESA "saying my ESA will decrease" would not be tied in with your DLA/PIP transfer unless you fail to gain a Standard or Enhanced Daily Living Award of PIP.

Even if you do fail to gain a DL PIP Award, your current level of DLA will remain in payment until 4 weeks after the date of the PIP decision and so should payment of the SDP tied to the DLA MR/HR Care Award.

If you are still unsure over the ESA letter, you need to contact them :

THE ESA PHONE NUMBER DWP : 0345 608 8545 (Open 8AM-6PM. Mon-Fri.)

  			 				Thanks for the reply.
I cannot see any other reason why the SDP will cease other than my DLA ending and my transfer to PIP as nothing else has changed, and the DWP could use that as a reason to stop my payment with the ceasing of the DLA and I'd need to reapply under PIP award.
I shall phone them and ask them, and if it's that then ask for a new IS10 Form.
I'll let you know, Melissa
