Just a bit of a warning.
I may be over thinking this but...
received my letter for F2F on the 2nd of April for appointment 21st April
Then received letter on 11th April telling me that I have to change my post office account to a bank account???
Rang the post office and the post office guy told me that I do not have to change accounts, I am within my rights to stay with my post office account.
So today we rung the number on the letter to tell them that I do not wish to move to a bank account and I wish to stay with my post office account...
Basically the woman on the phone has told me that universal credit is not compatible with post office accounts and anyone within the working age should be using a bank account as employers don't pay into post office accounts.
This immediately makes me believe that I am being setup for failure on the 21st April....after reading through the information on the internet this seems inevitable.
Is there any point in actually going to the F2F???

Hello leejak
I've no doubt whatsoever that other members will have their own ideas of what's happening here; my own personal opinion is - well, I wouldn't be sure it's anything to do with either Universal Credit or anything else, just an increasing diminishing of the services offered by the Post Office. Once upon a time you got a wee book with tokens in that you took to the Post Office to collect Child Benefit/Sickness benefit etc but that has been replaced over time. This is just another step further on. And it is true that businesses won't put wages into the post office.
Your idea of Universal Credit etc is equally as likely., but I wouldn't avoid your face2face on the strength of that possibility. I know it's horrible procedure to go through, but if you don't go, you most certainly will fail - at least if you attend you have a fighting(!) chance.
Good luck with the assessment.

I also received a letter! At the moment it is sitting on the table. I know my benefits are fine being paid in to the Post Office account and I have absolutely no intention of changing it.
Let's face it, Banks are closing down and it looks like all we might have one day is the Post Office.

I will add my warning - ignoring this 'request' could result in the DWP refusing to pay the benefit to which you are entitled. I don't know how likely that would be or how it would stand up in court - but I would hate any of our members to become the 'test case'!

is it not the case that you can close all accounts and force them to pay you by giro?

I'm not sure they can provide Giro's anymore, although I could be mistaken.
