Hi Vincent,

You do not need to write a letter in order to claim PIP and doing so would not be helpful i any way.

What you do need to do is phone up and initiate the claim. You will need to give some basic information at that stage and tell them briefly what is the matter with you, they will just need a few words nothing in depth. What kind of information they need is explained in our PIP guides.

After your claim has been started you will be sent a PIP2 form which you will have to complete. This is where you include in depth information about how your condition affects you.

You might also be asked to attend a face2face assessment. If you would not be able to do this you might be able to get a home visit but you would have to submit a letter from your GP explaining why this is the case. Again, this is all explained in our PIP guides.
