Dear ALL,
Could somebodyplease clarify for me why a person who is in receipt for PIP payment due to their disability would need to notify the DWP if they had to be away from home for longer than 4 weeks?
Is this to stop payment for the period when you are away from home from the specified 4 weeks?
Do they then stop payment for the whole month or just the number weeks in excess of the specified 4 weeks?

I'm not aware of any requirement for the claimant to notify the DWP is they are away from home while claiming PIP.
If you are remaining in the UK then there is no restriction on the time.
If you are leaving the UK then you can continue to receive PIP for up to 13 weeks. See
www.gov.uk/claim-benefits-abroad/overview
There may be practical reasons for notifying the DWP, for example if your PIP is due to end in April/May 2017 then we would expect you to be re-assessed in the near future. If you are waiting to be assessed or reassessed then it would make sense to notify them so that you do not miss an appointment while you are away.
