Any advice on a PIP home visit?
What will they be looking for?
Will they be trying to disprove everything?
Concerned as it took me over a decade to be diagnosed after seeing many doctors, consultants and specialists and having ever increasing debilitating disabilities so how is someone going to understand my condition from ATos? Very nervous and worried as I've read so many horror stories on this sight. Any advice is greatly appreciated

Hello Lyndilou

Don't quite know what information you're looking for about the home visit; it's just as it says, instead of you attending an assessment centre, instead they come to you.

They will be looking for exactly the same thing as they would be if you attended a centre; to see how your disability/illness affects your ability to cope with day to day living. You have filled in the application form, so you know what you have written; if you aren't sure that you have written enough then be ready to explain fully just how your illness stops you from carrying out various activities.

Before they come to visit you for your assessment, remind yourself of your answers on the form; if you have a family members close enough to you, ask them to stay with you through the medical - if you've no family, then ask a trusted friend. The only reason for this is that you have moral support, as you are clearly worried about the assessment, plus if your assessment later proves not to be as successful as you would like, your friend/family member can confirm what you said etc if you have ask for MR.

If you are asked to perform a task/exercise that you know will hurt you, refuse to do it - not rudely, just explain that it will hurt you or cause you damage. The assessor is a visitor to your home, he/she won't be wanting a guided tour! Just state your case clearly and make sure you mention everything that affects you. Other than that, you can do no more.
Good luck :)
