Just to say I have successfully applied for PIP and ESA and never asked for or had a doc's letter, just my care plan and consultants' letters

Hello, I am waiting for my appointment letter for a ftf with capita re my claim for going from DLA to Pip. My husband is worried sick that they will start asking him all sorts of questions, and he's worried that he might say something wrong. I've told him to just "tell it as it is regarding how he helps me during the day and night" but we're both panicking now.
Will the assessor ask him questions, or just me. I'd be really grateful for any help please.

Chopper :-)

Hi Chopper,

I have merged your query with your other PIP topic. It helps us enormously if everything relating to the same subject is kept in one place!

The assessor should direct most of the questions to you, although s/he might ask your husband whether there is anything he would like to add. Is there anyone else who could accompany you, if that would help hubby and you to relax a little?

What to expect from a face2face assessment is explained in the PIP guide, a read through of that should help you feel better prepared. Here's hoping that you get a favourable decision without even needing a f2f!

You should Bookmark/Favourite this page in your Internet Browser now.

That way you can return to this topic easily to pose any further queries that you may have by replying to the topic.

See : This Topic also !

Thanks in anticipation of your future co-operation in keeping all your PIP related queries to this topic ! :)

Hi, I had my assessment in my home last week. I "think" it went well, and the young man that came to see me was very pleasant, and not as "scary" as I thought.
My problem, that has sent me in to panic mode is that he didn't read back what he'd written, and I also forgot to ask for a copy of the report.
Should I wait till I receive a decision about my claim, or ring Capita to ask for a copy of the report.??
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
:S

Hi Chopper,

I have again merged your query with the rest of your questions and comments about this claim. It really does help us enormously if everything relating to the same claim is kept in one place

Don't worry about not asking for a copy of the assessment report at the time - the assessor would not have been able to give it to you. You need to contact DWP for this rather than Capita. Some claimants are able to get this before the decision is made, others are told they must wait until afterwards.

I would use the B & W guides and try not to view not having a GP report as a bad thing as it could be quite the opposite - as in your GP providing one having made assumptions on how your affected.

I wish you well with your claim.[/quote]

You are right there Twinkle,

My GP practice shafted me over the ESA medical/questionnaire requesting further evidence that was sent to them from the DWP, GP only put down my basic medical information & missed a lot out..

I'd changed practice then 3 yrs later they resigned bar one! all new GP's in the Sep/October, GP filled in a report about me think November & didnt meet me face to face till the March!
I went to town on the woman for filling it in behind my back.

They say its ok as medical information is on their system but as i pointed out there are years worth of files missing from computer failure which weren't backed up! & even if that weren't the case the request form for more information from the dwp hasn't enough space to list all medical conditions,

besides any GP can fill it in, depends whose in tray it lands in, so unless you can get to the gp first in advance those forms requesting further medical info can do more harm than good.

I relied on hospital medical reports i had kept & info on medical records that has not been lost & just fully explaining how day to day am affected & thankfully i passed !

And the biggest joke of all with my "local gp's" is my main medical compliant none of them has ever heard of it !! no idea of its existence !!!
My treatment takes place at a specialised center over 200 miles away! as one specialist nurse told me as long as the surgery keeps filling the prescriptions the center prescribes local GP input towards my treatment is invalid, which i would tend mostly to agree with !
