The appointment on 13th May is the first appointment Atos has made for me.

That's good as it makes things easier.

Second appointments are usually made no more than three weeks in advance.

Hi Gordon, can you please tell me can I ask the name of the Assessor and her qualifications to assess me, a person with a mental health condition?

Can I also enquire about Data protection and my rights to these, and whether she has signed the hypocratic oath. Without these the assessosr could easily just chat to anyone she likes about my very sensitive medical records.

A friend has asked me how can I be expected to divulge highly sensitive information about myself to someone who is not a GP?

TBH I am scared witless about this assessment and do not hold out much hope for a sucesssful outcome even though I have scored my self 12 points in the descriptors for Daily living and 10 points for mobility. If these people are just a bunch of flagrant liars then none of us have a hope in hell.
Feeling pretty suicidal tonight. I never imagined that at the age of 60 I would still be having to scratch for my existence like this, and I had a Lifetime award!

I have my Pip assessment tommorow morning, and I have an advocate now too, nevertheless I am utterly terrified of humiliating myself in front of people and quite horrified at what I am going to be put through. From what I am seeing on this forum, and I have read practically every post, it looks almost no one is believed and many very sick people are being deprived of their lincome.

I hold out no hope for getting the equivelant PIP to my indefinite DLA of higher rate care component and standard rate mobility. As I live alone with no one to support me and am 700 miles from my closest relative, who incidently no longer speaks to me, due to my mental health issues and suicide attempts.
I feel my life is about to be completely destroyed. I feel like I might as well end it all now, and just take all my tranquillisers in one final hit.

What this Government is doing to poor disabled people is nothing more than Disability Discrimination!. It should be illegal to treat disable people this way, as if they are all a bunch of complete charlatans and liars.
Is no one challenging the Government on these basic human rights? To seek to intimidate, humiliate and make people' even poorer when they are sick IS an infringement of their human rights.

Where is the Shadow Works and Pensions Secretary, in all of this?
He/she is so innocuous and silent I do not even know who they are!

I feel l am already " Dead in the water" as far as this fiasco goes.

You can ask assessor their name, they should have a name badge and you can ask their background, are they a doctor, a nurse, a physiotherapist, etc.

You can ask about their qualifications but I wouldn't expect them to answer with anything more than the fact that they have passed the training set by the DWP for all PIP assessors.

All Assessment Provider staff are bound by a confidentiality agreement which is part of their terms of employment, if there were any issues in this area then I'm sure that we would have heard about it, it would be the sort of thing that would be front page news.

It's really important that you understand that the posts you see on B&W represent a very small proportion of the total number of PIP claimants, many members post because they are having problems with their claims, most members don't because their claims go through without problem.

I'm not trying to suggest that their aren't serious issues with aspects of the PIP process, but the facts is that the majority of claims are handled professionally and the claimant receives the award that they deserve.
