I seem to be going round in EVER DECREASING circles. Not good for my health!
I receive ESA(IR) support group and PIP enhanced (DL and M).
My partner is my carer and he is named as my partner on ESA claim.
I am also his carer. Due to the tardiness of the local NHS Trust he has only just been assessed for a mental health disorder (Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder - Borderline Personality Disorder) which is now leading to a learning disability assessment. I am confident of the outcome of the latter as I was an educational professional until I stopped working due to ill health. He has completed PIP1/2 and is awaiting his medical assessment. We have excellent support here for this element of the application, reconsideration and tribunal process.
My question to you is, I claim carers allowance for my Partner as he does for me, assuming he is awarded DL component of PIP but what happened then?
What premiums, allowances and deductions will be made? There is always a deduction in there somewhere!!
No one will actually give me details of specific issues, which I do not understand. Someone somewhere must have a DWP 'calculator' ?

I have contacted Carers UK, AGE UK, CAB, DISABILITY RIGHTS UK........... and still the scenario appears to generate conflicting and unsure figures!

Second issue I am working with Supporting People on a 2 bedroom LHA need due to medical reasons. Turn2US have confirmed that Shelter and Mind plus Disability UK may have legal evidence to support this claim. Is there anyone with the ability/specialism for representation in mental health disability rights/housing/benefits? Is there a support group or working group to add power to principle?

Hi Paul and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I can see that this is causing you a great deal of upset and anxiety. However, I'm afraid I am going to disappoint you

How much benefit you would get as a couple depends on your household finances and it is outwith the remit of this forum to calculate this. For one thing, it would mean that you post private details on a public forum.

Have you tried inputting your correct figures into a calculator such as is found on turn2us?

www.turn2us.org.uk/

This would allow you to look at various scenarios and see what you might be entitled to.

I'm afraid I'm not sure exactly what you are asking about your second issue. There is no-one on this site who provides the kind of support you are looking for.
