Hi, please could anyone help me. I have been in the support group of ESA - contribution based.
I wonder if anyone could advise if this benefit is affected if I decide to cash a lump sum of a pension. It is not a massive pension, literally only £24k which wouldn't give me any amount as an income. I have had a document signed by my doctor to say I will not be able to work before the age of 55, I am 52 at present .
I think I have read you can only reap a pension of £85 per week to have an affect on the benefit, but I just need to know if I get the whole amount would this affect it. I need the cash to adapt our privately owned home with bathroom etc, but as I have a way to go before my retirement age of 67 I do not want to lose my ESA as I need this to live on.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards Emm.
