DLA to PIP pensioner issue was created by wikedy
Hi can you assist please, my uncle who is 67 and has been on DLA for many years has received a letter and form directing him to transfer to PIP.

I was confused by this as thought pensioners did not have to transfer.

I looked at your guidance but cannot find explanation.

He was told on phone that anyone born on or after April 1948 have to transfer.

Is this correct?

As have several friends who think they safe but if correct they are not.

Any explanation appreciated.

Hi Wikedy

Just checked and the rule states that anyone turning 65 after 8 April 2013 will be 'invited' to claim PIP - that is, born after April 19648.

Hope this clarifies things? :)

Thank you, its so confusing as government assured pensioners not affected but they are.

Its not detailed in guidance doc ether.

So its all to do with date they made changes.

Ok will tell relatives and friends.
