I received a letter to say DWP were coming to my house the next day .They arrived to check my bank accounts and to question me about a bank account from 2013 which was nothing to do with me! Very stressful ! The lady then announced that they were querying my living arrangements! I have lived with my best friend fora couple of years . I was made bankrupt had a breakdown on top of various illnesses .i was taken in by my friend . I pay rent I have my own room I live my own life to the best I can . I need a carer I need driving around ,I need someone to feed me! I haven't got a bank account yet until October. The DWP want another home visit to discuss my living arrangements as they believe I am "living" with a person who has a pension therefore we must be "together " therefore they want to halve my ESA support . Can this be fair What am I to expect from another home visit . Have to say suffering from mental illness this is so stressful and seems unfair!

Hi Gary Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I am sorry that you are going through this, it must be terribly worrying for you

It sounds as if DWP believe that you are 'living together as husband and wife' which is the test used in these situations.

We are unable to give you the individual advice that you need for this. Your best option will be to find a benefits advisor who can look at your circumstances. Try doing an internet search for 'benefits advice' and your postcode. Or you can try CAB, but you need to ensure that you get a benefits specialist, not a general advisor.
