Illness changes and do we need to report it

I am already on ESA IR in the SG and also claiming for my wife (both of us as a couple).
Sadly my wife is now claiming PIP after having to produce a DS1500 due to Cancer
My new question is:
My illness has got worse, now knowing at this moment it will make no difference to my claim because they already except I'm ill.
Now I have a new unrelated health problem but developed a Heart condition which will also in it's own right prevent me from doing anything relating to going to work, do I need to informed the DWP or wait for my dreaded brown evalope which I think is due soon sadly.
Thank you for your help in advance.
Graham.

In regard your wife, has she been awarded PIP yet, they should be fast tracking her? As soon as she has an award of PIP then contact the ESA department as I would expect you to be eligible for at least one Premium, the extra money may be helpful.
You are required to notify the DWP of changes that will have a material effect on your ESA claim, however, as you are already receiving the highest rate of ESA, a deterioration of your conditions won't result in a change, so it's really up to you. The DWP are always interested in an improvement but pay little attention to a deterioration unless they have to.

Gordon, yes my wife was fast tracked with PIP etc, I was told by Macmillan to claim Carers Allowance but due to the ESA I'm on it would all be deducted £ per £ so I decided not to bother.
Thank you for your answer and information, this Web site and all the Moderators deserve more than a plain thank you.
Thank you all for the time and information you give us all. Again I'm sorry for the delay.
Kind regards

You should reconsider the CA, if you are receiving ESA(IR) then although the CA is treated as income and deducted £ for £ you will also receive a Carers Premium which will increase your weekly payments. If you are on ESA(CB) you may still be eligible for an ESA(IR) top-up.

If you are still unsure you can run your circumstances through one of the online calculators.
