Hi i receive contribution related ESA and i am in the support group. I receive a private pension that I had paid into when I was self employed starting at 60 (18months ago) I have just received a letter stating that as i have a pension my ESA payment is being reduced. IS THIS CORRECT????

Although ESA(CB) is not "means" tested it does take into account any pension income, there is an £85/week disregard followed by £1/week deduction for every £2 in excess.
Don't forget that ESA(CB) is liable to tax and has to be declared to HMRC.
