hi
a member of my family has been given a sick note by her doctor for 4 weeks. she was previously receiving carers allowance, which has now stopped, looking after her elderly mother suffering from dementia. her mother has now sadly passed away. she is single, lives in a council house and pays rent. can you tell me what benefits she should now be entitled to. she receives no other income and has no savings. her postcode area has allready changed to universal credit many thanks john

If they are able to work then Universal Credit / JSA depending on their circumstances.
If they are unable to work in the long term then ESA.
They should be able to make a claim for Housing Benefit based on nil income.
They should put their circumstances in to one of the online benefit calculators.
