Does anyone know if it is true that you can go abroad for up to 13 weeks and still get ESA, income based. I have severe arthritus and could go to a family member who lives in a warmer climate for the winter. I am not sure I believe this is true but thought it may be worth asking. I get higher rate care and mobility PIP and it seems the rules for PIP are 13 weeks but I cannot seem to find ESA rules. I am sure one of the learned people on here will have the correct information. Lastly, on behalf of us all, thank you for a great site.

Hi Mr B,
You can go abroad for a maximum of 4 weeks while in receipt of ESA although you should inform DWP before you go.
The information is widely available -
