Esa work group was created by Mumto2
Hello,
Wonder if any can help me ?
My daughter has just won her appeal for esa,
She has been placed in the work group. We are awaiting further paperwork but I did some research and it appears you can only be in this group for 1 year.
Is this the case ?
My daughter is 18 , she has hyper mobility dyspraxia arthritis and she is on the autism spectrum.
But all that said she will fingers crossed be going to university with support in September.
She receives pip
Any info would be appreciated
Thank you

Hi M and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

What you have heard is not quite accurate -

For people on Contributory ESA, payment is limited to 365 days for people not in the Support Group.

After this time, payments will cease if the claimant is not entitled to income-related ESA. The claim would still be open and NI credited. Payment would restart if a future reassessment allocated the claimant to the Support Group.

12 Month Limit for ESA(CB)

If your daughter is already on income-related ESA, or contributory with an IR top-up, payment will continue without needing to do anything. If she is on Contributory only and thinks she will qualify for IR, she should request an ESA3 now, to collect details of her financial situation.

You might wish to bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future. This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your daughter's ESA without having to start a new topic each time :)
