How should I score for mobility? was created by benion
Diagnoses: bipolar, autism, dyspraxia, obesity, borderline traits

I am totally unable to use public transport. This relates to an incident 4 years ago when I was staring at a woman on a bus (with ASD I am not always aware of appropriate body language) and she got up and assaulted me. Nobody, not even the driver, did anything to help. I have never used public transport since.

I can drive but only to familiar places. The idea of going anywhere unfamiliar is too scary and could cause a panic attack. I get someone to accompany me then.

Many days I cannot even get out the house at all due to motivation issues and feeling too down to do anything.

You don't say which benefit you are referring to?

Thanks - this is one reason we ask people to keep all questions relating to the same claim in one place!

There are 2 elements to the mobility questions. The planning and following a journey will score points for people who have mental health, cognitive and/or sensory problems.

Try not to focus to much on public transport. Use the incident to explain your anxiety and difficulty in following a journey. The PIP guide talks you through it.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you will find it easily in future. This will allow you to return with further questions without starting a topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one topic as we are able to see what you have already said/been told.

We mark posts as "replying" when there is more than one Moderator online to avoid two Mods answering it at the same time, usually the "replying" is overwritten or deleted.
