Awaiting hip replacement was created by Jacqui
I am claiming contribution based ESA.I was a self employed Energy assessor, this meant climbing into lofts etc. this became impossible due to Osteoarthritis of both hips. I have had one hip done and awaiting for the other one to be done. I have a medical interview in two weeks time. Do they take into account the type of work you do?. I am also 63 and due to retire next July so I can't see how I am employable. My doctor has recommended that I should look for alternative due to my condition.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
I'm afraid your previous employment is not relevant to your ESA Claim, you will be assessed on your ability to meet the ESA criteria, see the ESA Claim guides for further information.
