Hi,
I got the letter inviting me to claim Pip last week (current DLA claimant). I phoned and claimed and had text messages sent thanking me for my claim etc. Then another text confirming theyve sent a how your disability affects you form out. I understand thus can take up to 2 weeks. However, your Pip advice says that following initial phone claim I should get a copy of that phone claim to sign and return, within a certain timeline or claim can be stopped. I called dwp but they say they dont send a written copy of the phone claim to be signed and returned only a Pip 2 how your disability affects you form once you have made the telephone claim. Is this correct as I dont want to run the risk of messing up my claim from the outset.

Hi Micksville,

Sorry to hear that the axe has fallen!

When PIP was first introduced we were told that a copy of the PIP1 forms would be sent out to the claimant - however, it quite quickly fell by the wayside and it is a very long time since we last heard of it being done.

You might like to bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future. You probably remember that we prefer members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic :)

Thanks for that. Just seemed to conflict with what they told me over the phone. I'm pretty relaxed about it tbh. I have very clear and demonstrable physical injuries and a supportive GP. I have detailed submissions typed and ready, have had for months in anticipation of the evil brown envelope.I will make certain they have no excuse for not making the cirrect decision, first tkme. But you never know. If I have to use the appeal route I'm ready for that too.

One small issue you might be able to advise me in. I have been unable to get in or out of a bath without assistance for many years. J dont actually have one but use a bath board device and grab rails to have a sit down shower. I still need assistance to complete this activity as I have issues getting a deformed leg in and out of the bath to utilse this device. Back and arthritic hand issues also impact me in this,. The rule was always, as I understood it, not the help you get but the help you need. The fact I rarely if ever actually have a bath now but use this other method....should I still score points for being unable to enter and exit the bath proper, unassisted even though I have the second option of the bath board to shower so rarely if ever use the bath as such??

Yes you should score points, for the bath.
