PIP claim and ESA medical report was created by letterboxmum
Hi
Please can anyone tell me if your Esa medical report is linked to your PIP claim?my wife has just had to apply for PIP after being on indefinite Dla benefit. She had an ESA medical in March 2015 and as suggested by this site we got a copy of the medical report that was very supportive. She was put into the support group . We have until the 3rd of September 2016 to send back the PIP claim. I thought I read somewhere that they do look at your ESA medical report when you apply for PIP?
Thanks

Hi Peter,
It seems that many of us are going through PIP and ESA re/assessments at much the same time
DWP might use your wife's ESA paperwork for the PIP claim - but you really should not rely on it! Send in (copies of) any and all supporting evidence, even if DWP have had it before, there is no law obliging them to seek this out themselves.
Of course, you should make good use of the PIP guide
PIP help for claimants
May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return along the way with further questions or comments about your wife's PIP without having to start a new topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one topic - and I hope you will find it useful too

Hi
Thanks for the reply. Shall I send a copy of the ESA medical? The only bit that I can see wrong on it is that it says that she doesn't suffer from any side effects from her medication which isn't correct. We didn't challenge this at the time because she was put in the support group.
Thank you
Peter

Hi Peter,
It depends whether you are relying on side effects of medication in order to gain points for PIP. If it makes no material difference to the claim whether your wife suffers from side effects or not then go ahead and submit the ESA report.

Hello
Just to say we decided not to put the Esa medical report in with the PIP claim.but we did send a copy of the ESA letter saying that my wife was in the Support Group and that she had had a medical in March 2015, i also did a statement about how I am my wife's full time carer and about how and what I have to do for her with regards washing, dressing ,eating etc..I also used the guides on here. I made sure that they are aware that she cannot propel herself in her wheelchair. Her physio also did a very detailed letter regarding her disabilities and how
they affect her.
We posted it to day. Next day guaranteed delivery, it is due back by 3rd September. Just the dreaded wait now. Thank you again for your help.
