Hi . my brother-in-laws brother who had been placed in the work related group recently had a phone call from Capita telling him to attend for a medical, which he attended and was given zero points and told to sign on for job seekers allowance as that is the only way to get any money even tho he is appealing, he was told he has to apply for jobs, when he attended this assessment he asked why no form was sent out they told him they no longer send out forms is this correct?

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I'm afraid we do see this happen sometimes - but it is certainly not the correct procedure! If your relative has the energy, it might be worth complaining to DWP and Capita. In addition, their MP might like to hear how people are being treated.

Complaining to the DWP

Now that the JSA claim has been accepted, the claimant can submit a fitnote for up to 13 weeks and should be excused all job seeking actvities during this time.

Once an appeal has been accepted by the Tribunal Service, and DWP notified of this, the claimant can ask for ESA assessment rate to be paid again. This is the same amount as JSA but does not have any job seeking requirements.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

I forgot to add that his assessment was for 11.00 am but they did not see him until 1.45 pm he complained but was told the delay was down to not enough staff being available but we think this was to see how his movement /toilet needs affected him as cameras are in the waiting room and entrance. this is in Gelliwasted Road Pontypridd Rhondda Cynon Taff
