DLA due to end - is ESA affected? was created by Muffin
When my DLA ends, what will happen about my ESA? If I do not qualify for PIP will my ESA be reassessed? What about if I don't apply for PIP and just let the DLA end, will this have any affect on my existing ESA claim? I read that PIP assessments are being used to decide ESA assessments. the PIP assessment won't cover my health problems as fully as the ESA assessment, I worry that if they use the PIP assessment to decide the ESA when reassessment is due, they won't be looking as fully as needed at my problems. I really don't know what to do.
I am currently in ESA support group due to severe mental health difficulties.

Hi Muffin and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
ESA and DLA/PIP are very different benefits with different qualifying criteria. After all, it is possible to get enhanced rate PIP and yet still work full time!
Your DLA ending would have no effect on your current ESA award. Nor have we seen unfavourable PIP reports used to reduce or remove ESA awards at reassessment.

So if I decide not to apply for PIP because I can't manage the stress right now, will my ESA be left alone and continue as it is? My worry is that if I don't apply for PIP the ESA people might decide to reassess me.

There should be no impact to your ESA.

Disability Action Group told me if I just don't apply for PIP, it could trigger an ESA reassessment. My health is no better, but I just can't cope with the stress of PIP assessment right now after two bereavements.

All I can say is that we have not seen a single member have their ESA reassessed as a direct result of them not making a claim for PIP or failing in their claim for PIP.
