Hi
I was just wondering if any one could answer the following,
can you get your dr to request a paper assessment for the dla pips change over ( I have bowel incontinence and am terrified of having an episode in front of the atos person or who ever it is)
And as this will the third time in three years of having to go through all this 2011 dla renewal 2013 incapacity to esa and now dla to pips, should I try to use the old evidence from the dr from the previous claims and try to get an addendum (as I now have new issues), or should I try to go for fresh evidence. Its quite hard to know what to try to get, I have so much wrong with me I will have to use another sheet to add it all in.

Has anyone had a paper assessment this year? as you can tell I don't have clue what I am doing.
am dreading it
many thanks jeannie02fox

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

A letter from your GP explaining your problems might help as far as a paper assessment is concerned but I'm afraid it is entirely up to the Assessment Provider to decide whether they think one is necessary.

You will give yourself the best chance of getting an award without a face2face by explaining your problems in the same terms as the PIP descriptors are phrased. Any supporting evidence should also refer to the descriptors if possible.

You can ask for your old DLA records to be used if you think they are relevant and helpful. However, DWP do destroy paper records after some time has elapsed (it seems to vary) so we always recommend sending in anything that might be helpful yourself, rather than relying on your own records.

Don't forget to make full use of the PIP guide (after all, that is what you have paid for!)

PIP help for claimants

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you tomreturn with further questions or comments about your PIP without having to start a new topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one topic - and I hope you will find it useful too :)
