Getting started in a PIP claim - Identity Check? was created by Anne Alba
I started a PIP claim on 1/9/16, reluctantly it is the first benefit I have ever requested despite having MS for 26 years, but now I really need something to help me. Anyway on chasing up today (19/9) I was informed that they were sending me out something for an identity check. The fact that I have worked and paid taxes for years is not enough it would seem to verify I exist at DWP. After this was sorted, then I would have to wait weeks for the "How your disability affects you form". So it could be 2 months just to get this form. Anyone else had this nonsense too? How did you cope or facilitate this process?

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
This is the first time I have heard of this! Perhaps members might be able to speak from experience . . .
When the PIP2 form does arrive, don't forget to make good use of our PIP guide when filling it in
PIP help for claimants
May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP without having to start a new topic each time. It helps us enormously when everything relating to the same claim is kept in one topic - and I hope you will find it useful too
