Thanks - sorry it's soooo confusing how this all works and don't want to do anything which makes me worse off (hence trying to check this with you and an adviser)
So if I apply for SDP I would still be on ESA CB but then also ESA IR ( I am also on this already due to some savings?)
I suppose the other thing I would want to determine is how likely it would be that if rhe SDP were backdated if the sum received would affect anything ie would it then be counted as more savings and push me over the £16k threshold

You are not currently receiving ESA(IR), according to your posts your savings prevent this at the moment.
Any back payment should be disregarded for at least 52 weeks, depending on the amount it can be disregarded permanently, but you will need to discuss this with the DWP.
