local authority team help with PIP form?

my local authority have a team that deals with people affected by benefit caps etc and since I'm affected by the the cap and been on ESA for a long time, they suggested I apply for PIP, and have offered me help in filling the PIP forms.they told me they have experienced advisors and can help me with that.
I am reading the guides here myself but because of my conditions I need assistance with filling these forms.

my question is is this a good idea to ask them for help filling the form? are they fair and non-biased? or is it like asking help from dwp?

Hi PDR,

I'm afraid its impossible to say how good these advisers might be. Even with CAB the quality of advice varies from person to person.

I suggest you read the guides and go to meet the adviser having a very good idea of what you want to say. Make sure that you are happy with what is being put on the form and take the completed form home with you to peruse, rather than signing it and letting them send it away for you. Then you can make any amendments that you deem necessary.

that's what I was going to do, read the guides, write some draft/notes and then go there and fill the forms with their help not entirely by them.
