Date for assessment - home visit was created by Jason
I was dreading getting the form to move from DLA to pip, which I received in November, I sent the form back in time and then sat waiting...... I got my letter on Friday giving me the date for my assessment, 26 January, a home by ATOS, which was surprising. I don't know how to feel apart from worried, will the assessor be looking to pick up on things around my house? Has anybody else gone through a home visit, how was it?? it says in the letter that there will not be a need for a full physical and that they will be asking how my disability affects me, but don't know. Will keep you updated once completed,

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
I am unsure whether your username is you real name? If so and you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
By offering a home assessment, it has been recognised that you suffer from a significant degree of impairment.
The assessment will follow a very similar format to one conducted anywhere else. Our PIP guide explains what to expect.
It is up to you which room is used for the assessment and who you have with you.
You do not have to make any special arrangement, you don't even have to get out of bed if you would not usually do so.
The assessor has no more rights than any other visitor to your home. They do not have the right to snoop around your home - to be fair, we have not heard of anyone wanting to do so!
May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that it is easy to find in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too

Hello everyone I am getting a home visit for my medical next week. I would have prefered to go to an assessment centre so that the full extent of my walking and balance difficulties were more obvious. Moving about my house with carpets and furniture to grap on to is easier than being in unfamiliar surroundings where I can`t walk without support from someone else.

As a counter balance, your journey to and from the assessment centre would have been considered and assumptions could have easily been made about your capabilities.

My son turns 16 in April and is currently on DLA High rate care, low rate mobility. He has high functioning autism/Aspergers syndrome. We are having a home visit on 30th Jan. I was surprised this was going to be done months before he is 16 but at least it will be over and done with. I'm worried about what sort of questions they will ask myself and my son. Can anyone give me any advice please.
