ESA Support award backdated was created by smileybob
Hi,

I hope someone can help me please. I applied back on 2nd November 2015 to be moved from the WRAG to support group. I had to appeal in court and won on the grounds that doing work related activities would cause my condition to deteriate. This court award was back on 16th August 2015.

I have been receiving the money every 2 weeks since the date of the award but I have not received any backdated payment as I should have. I have been in contact via phone on several occasions to the esa department and they have told me it is being dealt with by another department (which they cannot contact and cannot give me any contact numbers for). They have told me that there is no timescale for the back payment to be made. its now over 5 months since the court award and no back payment.

Please help, my wife who looks after me is now ill and hasn't been able to go to work, she is on an 11 hour contract but works overtime to work full-time, we haven't even got any sick pay of any kind. :(

Many thanks

The best I can suggest is for you to contact your MP.

Hello smileybob

As Gordon suggested your MP is the right person to get things moving here.

I have had dealing with my own MP a Tory MP who voted for cuts. But who will help you and has an office dedicated to trying to solve problems from their constituents.
If the DWP just keep putting them off and they don't think your been treated properly, they can also refer it to a minister.

If after getting an email reply from your MPs office from say a case worker, once you have outlined your case, if your worried or anxious, then just give them a call and I felt much happier once I knew they were trying to help me. Also explain your circumstances, you will find they are pleased to assist and help you. MPs are really good at getting things moving, especially when there is an impasse like it sounds there is in your own case.

Good Luck
