PIP Award Review - Conflicting dates advice was created by Robinson_jon
Hi folks

This is a new topic, so doesn't need added to my old thread.

My partner was awarded PIP for the second time on 13 February 2015. The award is due to lapse on 18 January 2018. The award letter clearly states "If your award of Personal Independence Payment has an end date, youll be sent a letter around 14 weeks before your award ends.

Today, she has received a letter dated 18 January 2017 with the PIP Award review form enclosed. That is a full calendar year before.

I am aware from your newsletter (and I posted on this forum) that many new awards are saying that they will review your circumstances 1 year before, and that is 'fair' enough - my own award letter states the same, but surely there is some mistake here if the original award letter states 14 weeks and the review letter is being sent at the one year point?

Does my partner have a case to contact DWP to highlight this error and have the review amended to the proper date?

Thanks in advance.

Jonny

I'm afraid the vast majority of PIP awards are being reassessed a year in advance of the award ending, the 14 weeks in the letter is advisory only.

The PIP legislation allows the DWP to initiate a reassessment at any time and for any reason, so there is no way to challenge this "early" reassessment.

Another thing to note is new award is from date of new assessment not from end date of 1st award. In most cases you end up losing a year.
