PIP f2f with Capita for my partner was created by DJ
Hi all,
My fiancé has been on DLA lower rate care & mobility for about 17 years. We had his PIP letter cone through just before Christmas and I was quick to get the form done and sent back within the 2 weeks we were given. I made sure I provided as much info as possible and used extra paper as the spaces were not big enough. I provided his official dyspraxia diagnosis paperwork as well as letters we had and a copy of his ESA report where he was granted Support group without even needing to attend a f2f. Today we received a big white envelope with info for a f2f appointment in 2 weeks time. To be honest, I expected this and I've said from the beginning that we are going to have a fight on our hands because despite him needing a lot of help there is little to no support for his disability in our area. A friend has told me I need to remember everything that I wrote on his PIP form. Is that the case? He suffers with anxiety and he's already in a bad state over it all. He's convinced himself he won't get it.
He cannot travel by himself and doesn't attend appointments or go anywhere by himself.
Are there any important facts I need to know before going?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

You can ask for a home assessment if it would be easier but you will need a letter from your partners GP explaining why they cannot attend at Capita's offices.
There's a section at the back of the PIP Claim guide that covers the assessment and the questions likely to be asked, there are no significant differences between an assessment held in the home and their offices.
Questioning will be directed at your partner, so he needs to be familiar with the details of the problems he has with completing each of the PIP activities.
If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Thanks Gordon. We are fine with going to Capita and our GPs are not very helpful unfortunately
so doubt we'd even get a letter.
With regards to the questions being directed to him, am I allowed to answer or help? He gets very confused and forgetful (All of which is on his paperwork) and I'm worried he'll forget or not mention important details.

The assessor will want to hear mostly from your partner. You should be able to prompt him if needed, or to add clarification - but how much you can do so will depend on the assessor. Be careful that you are not deemed to be trying to 'take over' if the assessor seems reluctant to listen to you, as this could result in the interview being terminated and your partner's file returned to DWP.

I certainly don't want that to happen. When he had to go for DLA assessments my father always went with him and he did a fair bit of talking for him as when he's nervous he stutters a lot. The Atos person assessing him that time was annoyed that he'd even been sent in for a f2f. My father has since passed away so it'll be the first time I'm having to attend a medical assessment with him. I feel like it's all on me to get it right.
I'm going to try run through some of it with him but I know he's going to freeze up on the day.
Where do I find the PIP claiming guide? I had a look in the booklet they provided but couldn't find any info on the assessments in there.
