PIP & Retirement was created by ProBoNo
Hi folks . . . can anyone tell me if and existing PIP claim will continue to be paid after reaching retirement age ?
A friend of mine was awarded PIP (full rates) for three years and now, after two years DWP have sent a Review form to complete, while they've coincidentally also informed him that he can claim his state pension now.
Not knowing which way to jump so to speak, I wonder if anyone can shine a light on this issue ?

Hi PBN,
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
Like DLA before it, PIP will continue to be paid after State Pension age if the claimant received it before this (subject to periodic reassessments).
As an aside, it is common DWP practice to start reassessing cases a full year before the supposed end date!
If you have any further questions about this, please reply to this message and we will do our best to help. You will find it easily in future if you bookmark/favourite on your web browser now

Providing a PIP award is in payment before they reach 65 then it will remain in payment after 65 providing they continue to meet the criteria for an award. That said, be aware that a Mobility award cannot be made after 65 if one was not already in place and cannot be increased if only a Standard award is made.
