Moved house and sanctioned? was created by Scotboy
I have recently moved house and kind of feared this but have got a letter stating my benefit has changed...i.e. reduced, I am on esa and pip and it say my esa has changed due to contribution related contributions running out, but im not sure that's really true as i had one of those letter in the assessment phase so i think its maybe a sanction.

Basically I was in a temporary flat and have moved to a council tenancy, so unfortunately had to change jobcentres, I kept the dwp up to date at every stage of the move and on the day of the move itself. I received two letters from my new and old job centres for wrag group interview on the same day, 27 feb. Obviously I wont now be going to the old job centre. However the new job centre app was for 9am, I have chronic issues with exhaustion and due to my meds im a mess in the mornings and couldn't make that, so i called them to change it, and they brought it forward two weeks to a better time, I'm wondering if they are treating my rearranged interview as a missed appointment even though no appointment has been missed.

However I still dont fullly understand. After starting ESA last year the dwp sent me a letter saying I may be entitled to extra if I had a carer, which I do, and to tick the carer box and return if the case, following that I was awarded an extra £60 per week. This was then listed on future letters as extreme disability allowance, my problems are mental and physical and i am very limited and reliant on help, however i found the description a little different from the carers payment it was described as.

So the reduction is that now I get an income related amount of £102 oer week, which I think is standard ESA wrag benefit, so my questions are

1. Do you think this is a sanction? Should I call them to ask
2. Or have the new job centre just taken away the extra allowance I was given for requiring having a carer - would that be affected by changing from contribution to income based, in which case should I ask them?, I am a hugely anxious person and Im terrified they now might say I wasnt entitled to previous payments or something. I dont really understand these things and cant really handle the stress of arguing about it for fear of making it worse.

To be sanctioned you have to have failed to attend or participate in a mandatory activity, this doesn't seem to have happened.

Were you receiving the Severe Disability Premium? You mention a "extreme disability allowance", there's no such thing but I am wondering if it is the SDP?

If you were receiving the SDP then it may have been removed because the DWP have not confirmation that you are still living alone and that no one receives Carers Allowance for you.

I would contact the DWP and ask, you may need to complete a new IS10 form.
