REQUEST FOR FEEDBACK BY MODS was created by Gordon
To all members
This is a genuine request for feedback on our postings and is not aimed at any particular member.
We seem to have an increasing number of members who either do not understand what we have replied in answer to their questions, are not reading the full post or at are not referring to the additional information we provide links to, meaning that we have to re-post the information?
Is the phraseology that we use unfamiliar or too complicated?
Are our posts too long or contain too much information?
Should we change the way that we present information?
- emphasise important information by bolding, using a larger font or colours?
- keep actions such as links to one place in the post?
- keep commentary and instructions separate?
Is the information we refer you to too complicated, difficult to find or difficult to understand?
Please take the time to provide some feedback, I estimate that at least 10% of the posts we are receiving ask the same questions as have been previously thought to have been answered. We currently average some 500 posts a week so this is a lot of duplication.
Many thanks
Gordon

bolding for the important parts may help somewhat.
most questions/answers can be found by reading the guides, sadly not everyone is doing that before asking.

Hi Gordon
Thank you and the other mods for all your patience and understanding. There is nothing wrong with how you answer all the queries, however, as a suggestion would it be possible to bullet point separately, at the top of the forum, the most often asked questions and replies

We have a 'FAQ' and 'Quick answers' sections at the top of the forum. I don't think we could make each one a separate topic as they would run to many pages.

Hi Gordan in all honesty I dont think your and Mrs Hurybacks's posts per sae are the issue here. It seems to me that unfortunately some members are not as computer literate as others which if you look at certain threads becomes rather obvious. With no disrepect to other forum members I used to be one of these people until I went on a free basic computer course at my local main library. Im no expert btw but I have a little more knowledge than before and certainly enough for me to navigate this site!

First of all can I say that I notice that the same questions are often asked over and over again. It would appear from this that members generally dont look to see if the question has been asked before. I agree with Mikey that some of this maybe due to the fact that the varying degrees of computer literacy may affect peoples ability to look for the information. Together with the fact that it is not always that easy to navigate the site. This is not a criticism of the site but it is down to the amount of time and effort we put into looking for the information. I also think that bullet points would maybe assist where the responses to questions are long and detailed. I would like to thank the moderators though, for their hard work and patience in providing us with the answers to our questions.
