PIP mobility for mental health changes was created by greeneyedlad
Hello,
Im new back here after a few years away but today got the dreaded brown envelope advising of DLA to PIP transfer.
I have until 25th March to telephone them to advise if I wish to claim PIP.
I assume then they send me an AR1 form, is that right?
I saw the good news that claimants with mental health conditions may be able to get an award of the mobility component of PIP, even at the enhanced rate.
Then I saw the bad news that Government rushes in heartless changes to PIP mobility for mental health.
So I have 4 questions;
1) was the guide updated to reflect the good news?
2) and has it been updated again to reflect the bad news?
Also I read your amendment that;
'the text previously said that the new law would not apply to decisions made before 16 March. It has now been amended to state that it will not apply to claims made before 16 March.'
3) By new law do you mean the new bad news?
4) So should I not wait until my deadline 25th March, & instead telephone them to start my claim before 16th March to still qualify for the good news?
Many thanks in advance

The current PIP Claim guide was updated with the "good news" it is currently being updated to include the "bad news" (e.g. change to the Descriptors).
If you make your claim before the 16th then in principle it will be the "good news" that will apply, but I am warning members that as of yesterday, when I last checked, the DWP had not updated the guidance available to DMs about the "good news" so claimants should not be surprised if the DWP do not apply the "good news" in any Decision that they make.

oh dear what to do what to do
Apply before 16th or hang off as long as possible to my 25th deadline if you really dont think it'll make a difference anyway.
Im on low mobility as it is so theres a good chance I will loose it with PIP, but Im on High Care, so I assume it'll go down to standard if at all.
Best case scenario Im still down nearly £200 a month
Also does claim by 16th march mean they have received a completed AR1 form, or is my telephone call saying yes I want to claim enough?
Id appreciate any advice, thank you so much

Whilst it may not make a difference to the DWP it could be very important if you have to go to appeal. I know it is not our role to provide specific advice, but I would start your claim before the 16th, you are only losing 9 days.
Your claim will be started when the DWP have (in effect) a completed PIP1 (the AR1 form is something different), the phone call should result in this being the case.

ok so i need to call them & get a PIP1 form sent out to me, fill it in & back to them before the 16th

can I fill the form in online or download it now rather than wait to be sent it?
thinking it might be tight now as monday is going to be 6th
thank you so much for your advice!

No! They can fill the PIP1 out for you while you are on the phone, there is a list of the questions that you will be asked in the PIP Claim guides, none of them are too complicated.
