I write on behalf of a friend who is confused about his ESA claim.
He claimed ESA back in 2015 and was given 0 points but on appeal they placed him in the WRAG. Since then his condition has deteriorated and he asked for a reassessment which happened this Jan. and he was placed in the SG for 6 months.
Anyway to cut a long story short even though he's claiming CB ESA they've sent him an ESA1 which is the initial ESA claim form!! He's tried to get a sensible answer from them but they're just confusing the issue even more.
So I suppose the question is why have they sent him an ESA1 when clearly he's already claiming ESA because they've placed him in the SG for 6 months????
Thanks

If your friend has been in the WRAG since 2015 then their ESA(CB) will have been time limited and will no longer be in payment. Although they technically still have a claim for ESA, the DWP will have deleted their computer records.
Being placed in the Support Group means that their ESA(CB) will now go back into payment, but this cannot happen until a new computer record is built and this is why the ESA1 has been sent.
