Can you please give me some advice. I have a Portuguese friend who is 27 but has lived here since he was 5. He has always worked and also has an English degree. He has started his teacher training, but has had to put it on hold because of a wrist injury. He had an operation on it last week and it looks like a long job. He has been given a sickness certificate by GP and applied to claim ESA. This has been refused they say because he is not a U.K. Resident. Any advice gratefully received.

I'm afraid this is not an area of benefits that we advise on.
Do an internet search for "welfare advice" with their postcode, town or county.
