Pip after age 65? was created by carol
My husband was awarded higher rate pip for care and mobility for 2 years following a very big operation for cancer with chemotherapy following next.
My question is that he is 63 and his award is due to end after he turns 65. What will be the procedure for a person over 65 on pip? Will he have his award cancelled?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

No he will be reassessed as any other PIP claimant and if he continues to meet the criteria then he will continue to receive PIP.
The only limitation to this will be that he cannot receive the Mobility component if he is not already doing so and an existing award of Mobility cannot be increase after 65 even if he meets the criteria for a higher award.

Is the award for two years? or is the review due before your OH turns 65 ? It often seems to happen that reviews occur just before retirement age so bear this in mind with Gordons post
