PIP ELIGIBILTY AGE. was created by POPE47
My wife , who suffers from MS and currently gets a DLA award, has been confused by some recent information found online via a different site. She is now 65 years of age, dob 20/12/1951, and has been led to believe that she may not now have to do the DLA/PIP transfer process. We have always been under the impression that she fell the wrong side of the cut off date for staying on DLA. The completion date for assessments is fast approaching and we await the dreaded call or letter daily. Can anyone confirm if she will be reassessed or does her age now excuse her. (she has an indefinite award under DLA). Thanks for any info. Keith

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
All claimants who were under the age of 65 on 8 April 2013 (UK Mainland) will be invited to claim PIP at some time over the next few years, even if they are over the age of 65 when they receive the request.
It's 20 June 2016 for Northern Ireland.
The transfer process is already considerably behind schedule with only about a 1/3 of DLA claimants processed, so it could be some time before she is contacted.

Thanks Gordon. That is what we understood to be the case. We just received conflicting statements from another forum.

Keith, your wife and I are just 12 weeks apart in age and I have just completed my transfer from DLA to PIP. I received the same award on transfer.

Thanks for the info Bren. We hope you were satisfied with your outcome. I guess my wife has to just wait it out. Keith
