COPD and Severe Pulmonary Hypertension was created by dennygilly
Hi
I have been diagnosed with both of the above and
have restricted mobility due to severe arthritis in ankle and knee. I am being reassessed and hoping to remain in support group. Would I be expected to use a wheelchair even though I suffer from severe breathless and swelling in legs and ankle due to hypertension.Any advice on how best explain along with medical evidence would be appreciated.Thanks.

You will be assessed as to whether you can self-propel a manual wheelchair, it does not matter whether you use one or even own one.
If you would not be able to use a manual wheelchair then you need to explain why this is the case, you cannot assume that those assessing will recognise that you would have problems because of your conditions, it must be explicitly stated.
The ESA Claim guide for Physical conditions covers the subject in more detail.
