Hi lovely people of B&W. I've been lurking here for a while and I wanted to ask a question.

The tribunal service have just called me and said that I don't need to attend my hearing as they have already decided in my favour on the papers. I am to be put in the WRAG and if I'm happy with that they will notify the DWP and send me a letter?

Is this normal? Back when i had my WCA i would ideally have wanted support group as my mental health issues were really debilitating but WRAG is fine today as I'm a lot better now.

I guess I'm just a little shocked that it's all over without a real fight. help me take it all in. :S

Was your hearing scheduled for today?

Were you appealing for the SG? I know you say you hoped for this.

Are you sure the call was from the Tribunal Service. I am concerned that it was actually from the DWP, as your description of the call is not consistent with what I would expect the TS to say to you. They sometime re-visit their original Decision and make a new one, if it is accepted then the claimants appeal is lapsed (cancelled).

If you were appealing for the SG then I would not expect an appeal panel to offer a WRAG award without seeing you.

I called back and spoke to the TS and they have confirmed that the tribunal has been heard on the papers even though I asked for a hearing. And given that they offered WRAG today which is perfectly acceptable I have said I'm prepared to accept it.

My struggle with the DWP has been difficult and the paranoid in me second guessed the DWP may do something illegal/unethical which is why I called the TS back to confirm it was what I thought it was.

I hadn't specified WRAG/SG, It's all over without me having to attend the tribunal. I guess they thought the DWPs case was so lame that it wasn't necessary for me to come in.

A win is a win I don't care how they work it out. As it happens I am genuinely hoping to be back in work soon so WRAG makes sense. SG would have been more appropriate back in October when my WCA was.
