carers allowance claim was created by tonisdad
A friend`s Daughter is going to claim carers for her Mother. The carers claimant is at the moment receiving tax credits as a single mother topped up with income support:
Question is do they just keep claiming these benefits until a decision is made on new claim then the backdated benefit would be calculated accordingly ie paid income support would be deducted from new payments or do they stop claiming income support now.
Thank you

This is not really an area that we deal with but based on your post, there is no requirement for them to close their Income Support claim, they can continue to receive IS as a carer.
