PIP EARLY RENEWAL

I was awarded PIP until August 2018 and have received a renewal application form a whole year before it's due!!! My local charity Disability Cando said within their remit they are allowed to do this.
Letter states if I do not return the forms by 11th September I will lose my PIP. Is this legal? Can I challenge it? Or is this the norm?
Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

It is current DWP practice to start reassessment a full year before the PIP is due to end. Legislation allows this (in fact, it allows reassessment the next day if they see fit!), I'm afraid there is no way you can challenge this.
